Birthing Justice Film Event
I had the privilege of partnering with a remarkable group of strong women. Together, multiple organizations joined forces to present the film Birthing Justice, an impactful documentary that sheds light on the injustices faced by people of color—especially Black women—within the healthcare system. This film highlights how, too often, their voices go unheard, leading to tragic outcomes where parents may lose their child or even their own lives during pregnancy. Birthing Justice underscores the urgent need for change in our country by encouraging us to listen to and understand the experiences of pregnant individuals, paving the way to safeguard their lives and the lives of future generations.
After the screening, attendees gathered in groups to discuss the issues presented in the film, reflecting deeply on the injustices in maternal healthcare. This conversation also encouraged participants to consider meaningful actions and ideas to help address these challenges and improve the healthcare system for all.
