The face behind Kamalani Photography
Welcome! I am Sophia Kamalani Marino
Ever since I got my first iPod touch, I’ve been passionate about photography. My parents gave me a second-hand camera for Christmas when I was 16, and it's been with me on my photography journey ever since.
I graduated from Northern Arizona University in May 2023 with a B.S. in Photography and a Minor in Environmental Sustainability. During my studies, I explored various photography styles, from nature to portrait, digital to film. My sustainability education taught me about environmental protection for future generations.
The summer after my junior year, I studied abroad in Germany, focusing on Positive Psychology and Conservation Psychology. This also enriched my understanding of sustainability and fostered a positive outlook on solving environmental issues.
Initially, I aimed to become a nature photographer, which influenced my choice of major and minor. However, post-graduation, I sought to find my niche as my mind has changed since then. I worked at a local doggy daycare for two years, where I was promoted to social media manager and event photographer. This helped me to branch out to different workplaces while also continuing with my photography journey.
Today, I travel and explore different environments while continuing my photography passion. Join me as I capture various events, travels, and portraits along the way.
